So you’ve invested in a ceramic coating — awesome! Let’s keep it looking as good as the day it was installed.

At 3T Detailing, we care about more than just the shine. We care about helping you protect your investment, love your ride, and make maintenance something you actually look forward to. Honestly, I love washing a ceramic-coated vehicle. The way the water beads and glides off, the smoothness of the paint under your sponge and fingertips, and that deep, glossy shine — it’s just satisfying. It makes you feel proud of your vehicle all over again.

We recommend washing your coated vehicle every 2 weeks if possible, depending on how often you drive and what kind of Alaskan grime you’re picking up. But no matter how dirty it gets, keeping your ceramic protected doesn’t need to be complicated — just consistent.

Here’s the process we use and recommend for our clients:

  1. Start with a thick pre-soak using a foam cannon and Incredible Suds. This helps lift loose dirt and grit so you’re not dragging it across your paint later. Let the foam sit for a few minutes and do its thing — the longer it dwells, the more it softens and loosens contamination. Do this in the shade so it can soak a little longer.

  2. After that, give your vehicle a solid rinse from top to bottom, by thorough, I mean thorough, like you are spraying a fresh coat of pant on it hitting every spot. This removes the majority of grime and gets you ready for a safe contact wash.

  3. When it’s time to wash, use a clean sponge or soft microfiber pad. Dip it and flip it often, and wring it out until it’s just barely dripping before going back to the paint. It might seem overly cautious, but trust me — this step makes a huge difference in reducing swirls over time. Be gentle and intentional. If you take care of your coating, it’ll take care of your paint.

  4. Rinse everything again thoroughly. You’ll already see the difference — clean, glossy panels and water beading like crazy.

  5. While the vehicle is still wet, spray a light mist of C6 Ceramics Mist over each panel and dry with a soft microfiber drying towel. Another safe step to reduce swirls it adds an extra layer of slickness and gloss, and it makes the drying process easier and safer. Plus, that smooth finish when you run your hand over the paint(gently) Chef’s kiss.

Taking a little extra time during your wash routine makes all the difference in how your vehicle looks, how long your coating lasts, and how enjoyable it is to maintain. And if you're anything like me, you might even find it therapeutic.

If you need help with supplies, want a maintenance detail, or just have questions about caring for your ceramic coating — don’t hesitate to reach out. We're here for you.
